About Us

Here at Delacey Game Hawking we are striving to offer you, top class flights for your birds. Based in the Ayrshire
countryside, with unspoilt views across the Firth of Clyde to Arran, the area is perfectly suited for long and shortwings.
Open fields, with duck splashes lend themselves perfectly for flights at ducks with falcons.

There are wooded areas suited for flights with shortwings at pheasants, rabbits etc. Also large areas of whin,
from which pheasant, partridge and rabbits can be flushed.

A short 30 minute drive takes us to another hunting area, also holding pheasant and more than a few Hares.

Went up to Scotland yesterday with a good friend Baz H from the forum he is going to put a thread up to tell every one about the place. The people who have the land are planning to do hunting days this coming season. The land is awesome we started on the duck which are in there hundreds Gilly dose not like water what a bumer she manged to get a good few flights but every time she went to bind to one they would dive in to the water she did manage to hit one duck but failed to holed it. One of the flight ponds was around 40ft across with at anyone time there were 30 to 40 ducks on it. Once these duck new there was a hawk chasing them they would not leave the water if I had my harris we would of had a couple of them in the bag as the harris is not bothered by the water. I desided to move from the water I was gutted at the way Gilly went on around the water. The falcon lads would have a field day with these ducks We moved on to the pheasants which there was lots again Gilly was not her self to be honest she was crap she did manage one pheasant which she took with ease.
These pheasant are very fit birds around 2 or 3 years old and are a good test for your bird .The keeper of the land breeds all his own game birds and for the coming season he is going to put a lot of game birds down. There is a lot of rabbit on the land but we did not go for them today it was game birds we were after.
We move to some fields that have hare on them Gilly had a good go at a nice big one but lost it in the sheep fencing. Katie my pointer came on point she flushed the biggest hare I have seen in my life Baz H and I thought it was a fox at first. Gilly was up on it in a second then she must of s##t her self as she pulled out of it, it was huge. The dog came on point again a hen pheasant got up on a open bank side. Gilly again of like a rocket she must of flew 1000 yrds or more it took a good 15+ minutes to catch up to her I thought she would of been on it but when Baz and I got to her she was in some bushes on the ground. By this time it was around 4 in the afternoon so we called it a day. This land must be the best I have been on the game is unbelievable the lads who have the land are going to set up accommodation . They are also going to put down a few more hundred rabbits they are also putting down guiny fowl I think these are mainly for the harris hawks.

In my visit i saw hundreds of duck and lost count on how many pheasant and woodcock we saw lots of Hares we lost count of how many rabbits we saw thanks to Rob for the invite. If anyone would like to contact Rob for next season pm me and I will give you his contact number. Baz H will be give his report on the day he also will be posting some pictures. Baz and I have desided do have a vist once a month in the coming season.

Thanks to Rob (Ayrshire Taxidermy), myself and Russ (Pure Finnish) were invited to try some land up in Delacey, Scotland. We started the day by Russ trying Gilly at some duck, flushed straight from the pond by Katie the GSP. Gilly managed a few good flights but only a foot full of feathers were accounted for. These ducks were in groups of hundreds and were very, very fit. Katie worked her socks off in and out of the water. We moved on to another piece of land where the rabbits and hare were in abundance, but Russ concentrated on phezzies with Gilly. Gilly soon left the fist in hot pursuit after a hen phezzie was flushed by Katie, not one of her most exciting flights but it was another gamebird to her tally. She continued to have a couple more hard and lond hauling flights at phezzies, which only just made cover. Katie then put up a hare (which was mistaken for a small fox)it was absolutley huge
To finnish the day Gilly gave chase to a hen phezzie over some 1000yrds, good hard wings pumping flight, but the phzzie just made it to cover.
Delacey is a stunning area, great land and an abundance of quarry. Looking forward to next season when Rob and Ewan (Gamekeeper) start to take bookings for day/weekends hunting.
